Quiet, cost-efficient and versatile: the BKA-EN

A fire damper that cuts costs and offers a range of versatile installation options: the BKA-EN from SCHAKO.

Why is the BKA-EN so quiet?

SCHAKO has broken new ground with the BKA-EN fire damper: the cold and hot leakage seals are built directly onto the closing vane. This means we can eliminate the surrounding rabbet profiles. In turn, this enlarges the free cross-section for airflow, yielding major reductions in the pressure loss value and the sound power level (LwA). This damper's acoustic characteristics cut investment and operating costs.

But that's not all! The BKA-EN from SCHAKO offers all these features too:

  • Tested according to the harmonised European fire protection standards, DIN EN 1366-2 and DIN EN 1363-1
  • Fire resistance classification K90 as per DIN 4102-6, or comparable classification EI 90 (ve, ho, i<>o)S as per harmonised European standard DIN EN 13501-3
  • Can be used in areas with an explosion hazard as per the ATEX Directive, 94/9/EC, in the mechanical version as well as the version with spring return actuators.
  • Varied range of versions and installation options
  • Can be connected to flammable and non-flammable ventilation ducts

Even more installation options – and even lower installation costs

Additional installation options have been tested and proven in accordance with fire protection requirements. The relevant addendum to general technical approval no. Z-41.3-667 will be issued shortly by the Deutsche Institut für Bautechnik (DIBt, German Institute for Civil Engineering), Berlin.
The following additional installation variants will then be possible:

  • Flange-flange installation with low distance in solid ceilings
  • Installation in metal stud walls in the immediate proximity of the ceiling (with rigid ceiling joints for walls)
  • Installation in metal stud walls with the "mounting frame" accessory

In particular, installing the SCHAKO BKA-EN in metal stud walls with the mounting frame offers proven benefits for everyone involved:

  • The damper can be installed in compliance with approval conditions at low cost - and maximum safety is guaranteed.
  • The dry construction/plant engineering interface can be defined accurately, enabling clear planning of the construction and installation processes.
  • Installation is more efficient and costs less.

As you can see, SCHAKO ensures safety in buildings and offers numerous benefits to planners, building owners and companies responsible for construction: versatile installation options, and fire protection technology that cuts costs. Our many years of experience, our know-how and the research we carry out in our own on-site fire protection laboratory are the elements in this formula for success.
