Dear Sir and Madam,

You are, no doubt, already familiar with fluid seals in
particle filter units. However, a completely new innovation at SCHAKO is the coating of filter units with nanoparticles.
Bacteria-free surfaces are an absolute must for hospitals,
clean rooms, and laboratories in the pharmaceutical, electrotechnical, fine mechanical and optical industries in order to reduce germs and bacteria. Apart from the standard finishing, SCHAKO now also offers an antibacterial powder coating.
In this newsletter you can read about why SCHAKO “silver-plates” its particle filter units.

Antibacterial coating—for long-term protection against
bacterial infestation

The antibacterial coating of particle filter units and outlets constitutes an additional way of killing off bacteria without having to carry out further treatment to the surface. The antimicrobial effect of silver has been known for many centuries and thus SCHAKO also makes use of this special characteristic for treating powder-coated surfaces in order to ensure long-term protection against microbial infestation. A special combination of active ingredients,
including nanoscale silver, prevents bacteria from settling on the coating and effectively kills them off.

The SCHAKO nano-coating acts by means of three different mechanisms:
1. It blocks cell metabolism.
2. It stops cell respiration.
3. It prevents cell division
.

In conjunction with moisture (humidity), the combination of active ingredients with nanoscale silver strives towards the surface of the coating until a defined surface allocation has formed (concentration balance). Existing bacteria are continually decomposed by means of the triple effect, leaving a clean, antimicrobial surface.
The combination of nanoscale active ingredients is homogeneously incorporated throughout the entire powder coating in a high concentration and is abundantly available. This striving for a balance in concentration ensures that the ingredient is continually supplied to the surface as soon as the concentration decreases. This ensures a high degree of effectiveness over a long period.

Chemical resistance::
The antibacterial coating displays a good degree of resistance against many diluted acids and alkalis. Strains caused by organic solvents are only conditional and possible on a short-term basis. Resistances should be tested separately in each case.

Product benefits::

  • long-term effectiveness against many bacteria,
    algae and viruses
  • long-term protection due to post-diffusing combination of ingredients
  • no toxic effect
  • eco-friendly
  • no indexing of resistances, no side effects
  • chemically resistant
  • visually neutral

Safety:
The high efficiency of the antibacterial coating has been strikingly confirmed in external studies. Numerous germs were demonstrably reduced by up to 100% within 24 hours. In spite of the high degree of effectiveness, there is absolutely no danger to humans or animals. This has been thoroughly proven
by means of exhaustive tests.
