SCHAKO Newsletter April 30, 2007

Dear Sir and Madam,

Not everybody had the chance to visit SCHAKO at ISH 2007 in Frankfurt. So here are the innovations that were to be seen first hand on our exhibition stand.

  • the quietest shut-off device on the market – the BKA-EN fire safety flaps
  • maximum energy saving with the mineral wool sound insulator

BKA-EN fire safety flap

The quietest shut-off device on the market

SCHAKO has taken a new approach to this fire safety flap, and is mounting the cold and hot leakage seals directly on the closing vane. It is therefore possible to omit the surrounding rabbet profile. As a result, the area available for airflow is significantly enlarged. This brings a marked reduction in the pressure loss figures. The noise power figure LWA is lowered appreciably. You will find comparative figures in the PDF file.

  • used in air-conditioning equipment
  • tested in accordance with DIN EN 1366-2 and in association with DIN EN 1363-1
  • classification K90 (EI90 (ve, ho, i  <-> o)S).
  • dimensions: W x H 200 x 200 mm up to 1,500 x 800 mm
  • steel plate housing—galvanized
  • closing vane of glass-fibre reinforced lightweight concrete with surrounding hose seals ("cold") and intumescent ("hot") seals
  • installation locations:
    • in solid walls/ceilings
    • in lightweight partition walls according to DIN 4102-4,
      Table 48
    • outside/remote from walls
    • flange-flange
    • partial mortaring (e.g. in corners)
    • connection to flammable and non-flammable ducts.
    • installation is independent of air direction

BK-188 shut-off device

Galvanized steel plate closing vane greatly reduces wear to the flap leaf

Here again, SCHAKO has done something that gives customers an advantage. Making the closing vane out of galvanized steel plate reduces wear on the flap leaf, thereby providing a long service life.

MWS mineral wool sound insulator

Reduces pressure drop by up to 55%
High saving energy

In the MWS mineral wool sound insulator, a specially developed flow profile reduces the pressure drop by up to 55%. The flow noise is reduced by up to 5%. A PDF file with further information is available here.

  • the mineral fibre boards are covered with metabolically inactive glass-fibre; bacteria can therefore not settle on the glass-fibre
  • non-inflammable in accordance with DIN 4102
  • with hygiene design approval
  • RAL-approved
