08.12.09 Updated design program
Extended design program including comfort computer
The SCHAKO design program enters its next stage, to allow engineers and technicians to carry out precise calculations of their projects containing SCHAKO products. To this end, not only all data have been updated and more than 40 new products have been integrated. You can also take advantage of the new function "Copy to clipboard". You can now copy a planning table, for example, into a Microsoft or Open Office document or even into an e-mail.

Round Shut-off Device BSK-RPR
The round shut-off device type BSK-RPR of general building supervisory approval Z-41.3-681 has been inspected according to DIN EN 1366-2 in connection with DIN-EN 1363-1.
It is used as shut-off device of fire lobbies in room air ventilation systems. The shut-off device BSK-RPR can be installed in massive walls and ceilings, in massive walls with mounting frame (dry installation), in lightweight walls according to DIN 4102-4 Table 48, and in shaft walls (model as lightweight walls with metal post construction).

01.04.09 Control Systems
Bypass control for laboratories
The bypass control for VCP type laboratories is a quick control system for prioritised control of room supply air and room return air volumetric flows fitted with internal secondary control circuits for constant pressure regulation. This control system prioritised for volumetric flow in round design provides, microprocessor-controlled, a uniform room pressure in laboratories (S1-S3), clean rooms (classes A-D), stables and interlocks.
01.04.09 Ceiling Diffusers
Ceiling diffuser IDA for high rooms
The new ceiling diffuser IDA is an adjustable comfort diffuser for installation flush with the ceiling for cooling and heating large halls up to 8 m in height. In order to prevent draughts in cooling mode, the supply air must largely be discharged horizontally from the diffuser. In heating mode, however, the diffuser must be able to project the warm supply air down vertically to low level to achieve fast and efficient heating. The diffuser type IDA meets both these requirements ideally.
01.04.09 Ceiling Induction Diffusers

The ceiling induction diffuser type DISA was developed for removing high thermal loads from air-conditioned rooms. It combines the supply of processed fresh air (primary air) required for each room with the advantages of energetic load removal by the medium water. The low overall height of the ceiling induction diffuser type DISA with horizontal heat exchanger is especially suitable for low heights of false ceilings in new buildings and for installing it in rehabilitated buildings. It can be installed either flush with the ceiling or freely suspended below the ceiling. Its two grille versions allow a specific optic design.

The newly developed ceiling displacement diffuser of the DAV type is a low-induction displacement diffuser for installation in rooms in which the supply air is to enter the room from the ceiling.
01.04.09 Room Automation Systems
Single Room Control X-RUS
The new room automation system X-RUS is a highly flexible modular room automation system. It integrates controller functions (heating, cooling) and control functions (shadowing, light, presence). In the absence of a higher-ranking building control system, the full functionality is available (autonomous operating mode for controller function, setpoint values, time programs, energy optimisation). Bus connections to powerful automation systems or to a control centre can be easily implemented via open communication with BACnet or Modbus. Fault messages of components can be transmitted to a higher-ranking DDC/BCS via the X-RUS.
01.04.09 Multi-Leaf Dampers

Multi-leaf dampers are used in air-conditioning and ventilation systems as control, throttle or shut-off dampers to control pressure and volumetric flow. SCHAKO's new multi-leaf dampers made of a dimensionally stable profiled frame made of galvanised sheet steel with smaller leaves could be shortened in their depth to 120 mm. This makes the new multi-leaf dampers lighter, more compact and easier to mount. The smaller installation dimensions are supported by a profiled connection frame minimised to 25 mm.

The compact dimensions and low mounting height of the NBS fan coil units in combination with their high power and low noise level provide a pleasant climate. With respect to their air flow capacity, cooling capacity and pressing, the NBS series of models is superior to the known Aquaris Silent series of models. Fan coil units allow decentralised air cooling and dehumidification. Additional options include ventilation and heating.

The new cooling ceiling FRIGODEC extends the SCHAKO cooling ceiling program by an extremely low-cost complete system for plaster ceiling activation.
FRIGODEC cooling/heating ceilings with their small register height are suitable for installation when false ceiling heights are low.

01.04.09 Smoke Detection Systems
Smoke detection system RMS
The smoke detector RMS stands out from previous smoke detectors by virtue of its superior mode of operation, making the RMS system unique. Two optic sensors are continuously emitting an infrared beam. When the light beam hits smoke particles in the air, it will be deflected, resulting in the smoke detection system detecting the smoke. Compared with conventional smoke detectors working by the scattered light principle, which measure the smoke in a detection chamber projecting from the ceiling or extending into the duct, the Schako RMS system measures the smoke outside the housing. As no air needs to flow through the smoke detector housing, this smoke detector is not as susceptible to soiling as other smoke detectors which require air to flow through the measuring chamber. However, if the smoke detector model RMS-L does get soiled, it can be cleaned quite easily by wiping the front glass.

The sound-damped volumetric flow controller Piano for supply and return air systems is distinguished by its small dimensions. Its small size facilitates installation and its small dimensions save space and thus overall height. This allows it also to be installed in constricted false ceiling areas. Due to the smaller dimensions and the resulting smaller weight, installation is greatly simplified. Nevertheless, the sound values achieved are impressive!

Volumetric flow controllers and their proven technology for controlling variable and constant air volumetric flows in ventilation and air-conditioning installations has been adapted by SCHAKO to current developments. Their compact design and high measureing precision allow for simple handling on site, thus saving valuable working hours. There is nothing more characteristic of today's working life than the motto "Time is money".

A horizontal supply air pattern is often required for large, high rooms such as theatres, concert halls, production halls, etc. Long throw nozzles type WDA are particularly suitable for this application. The cone-shaped body of the nozzle increases air velocity ensuring a stable core jet. This results in very long throws. The dynamic internal construction of the jet nozzle allows a very high exit velocity at low noise levels and high induction. This results in deep penetration depths in both heating and cooling. The nozzles are also well suited to vertical throws.

The SCHAKO design programme is used by many engineers and technicians for the detailed calculation of a certain product type in the planning stage of a project. Since the introduction of our current programme last autumn, a series of additions and extensions have been made. They are designed to make work easier and get better use of these systems.

The SCHAKO design program is an important tool for quick and precise design and selection of components during the planning phase of your projects. Now SCHAKO has made available the new version. This version allows you to design your fire dampers, volumetric flow controllers and silencers in the simplest possible way. Combined designs, for example of volumetric flow controllers with silencers connected downstream, are also possible.

The Schako KG company from Kolbingen, Germany, a leading manufacturer of components for the ventilation and air-conditioning technology, has developed a sophisticated VAV solution as response to a requirement of a current project, called Delta BACnet VAV Controller DVC-V322.

Building investors have the obligation to design and manage building premises in such a way that in case of fire fire and smoke are prevented from spreading. They must ensure that human and animal lives can be saved and highly efficient extinguishing work is possible. New installations such as smoke extraction systems with ventilation require standardized individual components. Schako supports these systems with the new “combination smoke damper ERK-T-K”.
06.03.07 Control units
Flat-bed acoustic cladding for volumetric flow controller
Previously, mineral wool acoustic cladding has been used for reducing the radiated noise of volumetric flow controllers. This has in general increased the dimensions of the volumetric flow controllers by up to 80 mm. For lack of space in the installation areas, it is therefore often necessary to come up with a compromise.

Bus system KOMES in 19" technology
The signaling and switching bus system model KOMES introduced to the market as the first of its kind more than 10 years ago and developed further ever since has been used by SCHAKO customers in more than 400 installations. The advantages of this system solution was quickly adopted by the market. Constant further developments have led to the latest generation: the 19" technology.

New laboratory ventilation controllers FC-500, FC-500-LON
The previous laboratory exhaust controllers LCR-300-V (analog) and LCR-300-V-LON have been replaced with the new laboratory exhaust controllers FC-500 (analog) and FC-500-LON. The laboratory exhaust monitoring device LC-100 has also been replaced with the new laboratory exhaust monitoring device FM-100.

06.03.07 Control units
Sound-damped volumetric flow controller PIANO
The sound-damped volumetric flow controller Piano for supply air and return air systems impresses by its minimal dimensions. The small size compared with comparable expansion boxes facilitates its installation and the smaller dimensions save space and thus mounting height. Thus, it can also be installed in narrow false ceiling areas. Owing to its smaller dimensions and the resulting lower weight, its handling during mounting is much easier. Even though, it achieves comparable sound values!
06.03.07 Ventilation systems
Volumetric flow controller and room pressure controller CRP
To keep the room at a constant pressure, one room pressure controller type CRP with high-speed actuator type NMQ-15 and throttle damper HKP or DKG each per room can be used, which are capable of controlling the required room overpressure independently. The CRP controller is in general programmed on-site to the desired target value and, alternatively, can additionally be equipped with a digital display for actual value display and/or another external actual value display.
